It’s been a busy week at SWOSU, and our junior nursing students rolled up their sleeves to help keep our campus community healthy! 💉💙

SWOSU junior nursing students provided free flu shots to SWOSU faculty, staff, and students, putting their classroom knowledge into action while serving the people who make our campus special.

Learning to be a nurse goes far beyond the classroom.

Our SWOSU junior nursing students recently completed Basic Disaster Life Support (BDLS) and Stop the Bleed training with Bill Justice and the 63rd Civil Support Team.

It was a great opportunity for our students to get hands-on experience and learn more about responding when emergencies happen.

We’re proud of these future nurses and the work they’re putting in to be ready for whatever comes next! 💙🐾

The SWOSU Nursing Department was proud to attend the Oklahoma Center for Nursing (OCN) Founders Dinner with President Kendall, his wife - Allison, and Dean Ramos! 💙🩺 Thank you to the SWOSU Foundation and Alumni for sponsoring our table!

The Oklahoma Center for Nursing works to support and advance nursing in Oklahoma by bringing together nursing leaders, educators, and partners to strengthen the nursing profession and its future workforce.

We are proud of Dr. Elissa Saunders and Danielle Pierce, who have been part of the OCN Oklahoma Nurse Faculty Academy. Their involvement reflects the commitment of our faculty to continued professional growth and to preparing the next generation of nurses.

We are also incredibly grateful for SWOSU leadership and the way they continue to show up for our nursing program and our students. Having university leaders present, engaged, and supportive sends a powerful message about the importance of nursing education and the students we serve.

It was a fun, motivating, and inspiring evening filled with opportunities to connect, celebrate nursing, and look toward the future of the profession.

Thank you to OCN Oklahoma Center for Nursing for bringing nursing leaders and educators together and thank you to our SWOSU leadership for continuing to support the Nursing Department and our students! 💙

Future healthcare professionals learning from one another! 💙🩺💊
SWOSU nursing and pharmacy students teamed up for a meaningful interprofessional learning experience, working through an assigned patient case to explore patient-centered medication counseling and demonstrate effective interprofessional practice.
Experiences like this give students a chance to learn what teamwork in healthcare looks like and how different professions can work together to support patients. We love seeing our Bulldogs collaborate and learn from each other!

Oklahoma health care organizations will have an opportunity to meet SWOSU students preparing for careers across Allied Health, Nursing and Pharmacy! Employers can recruit for internships, part-time work and full-time positions while building connections with future graduates.

The SWOSU Health Career Expo is Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 900 N. Seventh St. in Weatherford. Employer registration is open now, and the deadline to register is Monday, Oct. 26.

Things got REAL in the SWOSU simulation lab! 👶🩺
Our senior nursing students completed their first OB simulation of the semester with Mama Anne! She can contract, breathe, talk, deliver a baby, hemorrhage, seize and more which gives our students a chance to practice responding to real-world situations in a safe environment.
So proud of these future nurses! 💙
