Everyone, please join me in congratulating our very own Dr. Linda Woolf, who has been elected as 2026 APA President-Elect/2027 President of the American Psychological Association!

The American Psychological Association (APA) is the leading professional organization for psychologists in the United States and the largest of its kind worldwide. Its membership exceeds 172,000 and includes scientists, educators, clinicians, consultants, and students.

Dr. Woolf’s vision, Many Voices, One Psychology reflects her lifelong commitment to ethics, diversity, human rights, and global engagement, values she brings to life every day here at Webster. As both an alumna (BA in Psychology, ’79, and MA in International Relations, '21) and long-time professor of Psychology and International Human Rights, she has inspired generations of students through courses about topics such as the Holocaust, mass political violence, human rights, ethics, and peace psychology.

Beyond Webster, Dr. Woolf has a history as a respected leader in the APA, serving on the Council of Representatives, chairing major task forces, and leading multiple divisions. Her election is both a recognition of her tireless work and a historic moment for Webster University.

Please join us in celebrating Dr. Woolf on this remarkable achievement!

Linda M. Woolf embodies a history of visionary leadership, effective coalition-building, and strategic thinking. With a sustained focus on diversity and interconnections, Linda has demonstrated a dedicated commitment to strengthening the psychology profession and promoting global impact. Join us in....

Hey alumni! Our very own faculty member/alumna Dr. Sara McMullin was interviewed by NPR earlier this month about Americans’ drinking habits, based on a new Gallup study. It's great to see her expertise highlighted on a national stage! Here's the link:

Gallup, which started tracking Americans' alcohol habits more than 80 years ago, says the drop in drinking rates coincides with Americans' growing concerns that even moderate drinking is unhealthy.

Hi Webster Psychology alumni and friends!

Webster launched a new initiative to support our Gorloks during one of the most stressful times of the semester—Finals Week. We’re offering Finals Week Survival Kits, which include a Webster-branded crossbody bag filled with snacks, school supplies, and Gorlok swag to help students power through.

Each kit is $45, and our goal is to distribute at least 100. We’re so close—we’ve reached 96!

Several members of the Webster community have asked how they can contribute, even if they don’t know a current student personally. Great news: you can still make a meaningful impact! Our Student Affairs team is helping us identify students with financial need who would benefit from a surprise gift of support and encouragement.

If you’d like to sponsor a Survival Kit for a student in need, simply fill out the form at the link below and use:

Hi Webster Psych alumni and friends! We invite you to attend the Research Across Disciplines (RAD) Annual Conference this Friday, December 9th, in-person or online.

RAD showcases undergraduate and graduate student works that make original intellectual or creative contributions to their academic disciplines. Students have put a lot of time and effort toward their projects and it is nice when members of the university community show up, show an interest in their work, and ask thoughtful questions! And it is especially great to see former students and faculty show up to support this year’s cohort of senior thesis students!

There are two sessions for Psychology Senior Thesis presentations: Session 1A, 9:00-10:20 AM CST, and 2A, 10:30-11:30 AM CST. A full schedule will soon be posted to https://webster.edu/science-health/research-across-disciplines.php -- stay tuned!

Presentations are scheduled to be in-person, in the ISB first floor conference room outside of the auditorium (ISB 140). Sessions will also be live streamed, via Zoom, at https://webster-edu.zoom.us/j/98957039233.

Hope to see some familiar faces show up to support our students!
