Dymund Lighten has officially graduated from MassBay, and her journey is nothing short of inspiring.
A single parent and full-time student, Dymund balanced coursework while raising her daughter, Lotus. In between it all, Dymund often completed assignments from her car and worked flexible jobs to support her family.
But she never gave up.
“My ultimate career goal is to work in human resources and help shape the hiring process to make sure every voice has a place,” said Dymund. “I remember needing a chance at one point, and I want to be that person who makes people feel seen and heard.”
At MassBay, Dymund thrived—earning Dean’s List honors twice, being inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success, and finding support through the College’s Single Mothers Support Group.
Now a proud MassBay graduate with an associate degree in General Studies, she plans to transfer to UMass Amherst to continue her education and pursue her goal of creating more equitable hiring practices.
“I’m proud that I kept going and made it to this point,” she said.
💙 Congratulations, Dymund—we’re so proud of you and can’t wait to see the impact you’ll make.
