The Wellesley College Botanic Gardens encompass the Margaret C. Ferguson Greenhouses, the Alexandra Botanic Garden, and the H. Ferguson Greenhouses contain seasonal displays as well as permanent collections. Here, you can experience plant life from the deserts of Mexico and Africa to the rain forests of Malaysia and Brazil. The Alexandra Botanic Garden has specimen trees and shrubs from around the

world in a picturesqe landscape. The Silver Thread, a small brook, winds through the garden from a waterfall to Paramecium Pond

The H. Hunnewell Arboretum has several different habitats, including a maple swamp, meadow, and fragments of different forest types, with mostly native species. Other specialized gardens include a green roof planted with native species, a dwarf conifer garden, a butterfly garden, and our Edible Ecosystem Teaching Garden. Follow us on Instagram

Come one, come all to Wellesley College Botanic Gardens’ annual light show! This is a FREE event where you will get to experience the botanic gardens at night! Wellesley College Botanic Gardens

This year, to celebrate our centennial, we are highlighting how plants and our gardens interact with a precious resource— water. In addition to the water-themed lighting, we will have fun and educational activities in the Visitor’s Center. See you there!

🌿Senior Greenhouse Horticulturist:

Wellesley College Botanic Gardens (in Wellesley, MA) is seeking a Senior Greenhouse Horticulturist, responsible for the day-to-day operation of all greenhouse facilities, including the public Global Flora conservatory with highly diverse indoor landscapes and plants, and greenhouses for teaching, research and propagation. The horticulturist mentors and supervises Wellesley College student interns throughout the year, and seasonal staff, on greenhouse tasks including integrated pest management, plant propagation, watering, weeding, pruning, assessing plant health, and general clean-up/maintenance. The horticulturist is an essential member of a small team working collaboratively to maintain healthy educational gardens, support programs for students and public, and has primary responsibility for all greenhouse-related operations and horticulture. A successful candidate will be resourceful and communicative, and embrace continual learning and contributing to an inclusive, equitable work culture.

Full time (40 hours/week) staff position with excellent benefits, $46.53/hr with increases per union contract. Application review begins July 31 until filled, to start in September 2024.

Summer blooms at Wellesley College Botanic Gardens 🌼🪷🌾

All are welcome!
🌎 Outdoor botanic gardens - free and open to all, year round, 24/7. Pick up a garden map outside our visitor center or on our website for a self-guided visit!
🏠 Global Flora and WCBG Visitor Center - free and open to all on Sundays 10a-3p through August, with Wellesley student guides available to answer questions! (We suggest coming early- the greenhouse can get very hot.)
💦Accessible parking spots, water fountains, all gender restrooms, and changing table available at the Visitor Center.

~ Fall 2024 Hours:
Starting Sept. 3, when students return, we will resume Visitor Center and Global Flora public open hours on weekdays & Sundays, with free drop in tours! Stay tuned.
(We are closed to the public on Sun, Sept. 1, due to Labor Day weekend and Orientation events.)

~ Summer Weekdays:
Until Sept. 3, WCBG Visitor Center and Global Flora are unstaffed on weekdays, so these buildings are open to the campus community & accompanied guests *via swipe access only*, Tue-Fri 10a-4p. (🚜 Road access is limited due to ongoing summer construction, on weekdays.)

**Global Flora & WCBG Visitor Center public open hours will resume on June 9, every Sunday 10a-3pm!**

The outdoor botanic gardens are always open year-round, every day, 24/7, and free and open to all!

May is an exciting month -- finals, senior week, graduation and reunion, back to back! Due to these events (and construction, and students leaving!), our public open hours are on pause for May.

This May, the campus community has swipe access to Global Flora (and are welcome to bring accompanied guests) Tuesdays through Fridays 10a-4pm. Global Flora will have special (staffed) open hours for Senior Week, Commencement, and Reunion, plus tours. See below for hours. Thank you for your understanding during this busy time on campus!

CONSTRUCTION NOTICE
🚜Construction strikes again! Starting this week, our WCBG Visitor Center and Global Flora are now in the middle of two active construction sites. Roads are fenced off, and no vehicles are allowed on weekdays during construction hours. Please watch for large vehicles, fencing, and other obstacles until further notice.

🚧 We are sorry to have to temporarily cancel public visitor hours & all vehicle access on *weekdays*, including weekday public group/tour requests (we will be in touch to assist you in rescheduling), until the site re-opens.

🌴We still offer free public hours, tours, and group requests for all on Sundays! Come by Sundays 11am-4pm , with free tours starting at 2pm! There's no construction on Sundays, so vehicles are allowed. Fencing will be removed on Sundays to allow access. We are open Sunday, March 31 (Easter) and closed Sunday, April 14 (Boston Marathon weekend).

📚Campus use, class visits, and campus group reservations are still allowed on weekdays, including regular open hours Tues & Thurs 2-5pm. Please watch for moving vehicles at all times, and follow the instructions of safety personnel on site.

🪷Thank you for your understanding as we navigate this unexpected change in spring plans!! We don't have a known end date and will update as we learn more.

🌳🌲🌸 In the meantime, our outdoor botanic gardens are waking up from winter, and open all day, every day, free and open to all! Visitors can park at the free campus Davis parking garage, to explore the gardens. Please watch for flooded areas ☔️ 🦆.

Announcing...our annual Greenhouse Light Show!! 💓

Come for a dazzling evening stroll through Global Flora -
free & open to all this Friday, Feb 16, between 6:30 - 8pm!

Experience this year's theme, "The Evolution of Love" in a spectacular new light, along with love-themed DIY activities, love potions, and more. The Botanic Gardens student team & Botanistas have been hard at work crafting this creative evening and showcasing some especially lovely plants to share. 🌈🌱
