Lee Hanae Ung ’10 founded Learning Lab Kobe (LLK), a learning center for English-speaking students ages 1 to 18 that provides extracurricular educational programming combining hands-on learning experiences, small classes, and personal relationships between students and teachers.

In summer 2025, Caitlin Ibe ’25 and Lottie Abascal ’25 both headed to Kobe, Japan to be teaching fellows at LLK. Neither had been to the country before, nor did they speak any Japanese, but both had transformative experiences. Read more about these remarkable connections between Wellesley College alums in this story by E.B. Bartels ’10!

This summer, Leni Oliveira ‘28 spent two and a half months in Santiago, Cabo Verde, for a Wellesley-funded internship. With the help of local interns, she conducted research on juvenile delinquency and academic retention in higher education.

Outside the walls of the University of Cabo Verde, she enjoyed the island’s lively culture, hearty cuisine, and beautiful scenery. In her own words, “this is the internship for anyone driven by community engagement and cultural enrichment.”

Applications for Wellesley-funded internships and grants are due today at 5 pm!
