Welcome, Class of 2028!💫

I’m Cami (she/her), and I am excited to be one of your International Orientation Mentors this fall! ♥️

I’m a rising sophomore from Argentina 🇦🇷, planning to major in Economics.
Fun fact: I love languages and for the last two semesters I’ve been learning Arabic at Wellesley. It has been my favorite class so far!👓

This summer, I’m interning at Wellesley Racial Justice Initiative (WRJI), an organization run by Wellesley alumnae dedicated to combating racism. One of the best aspects of Wellesley is our incredible alumnae network, which is so supportive, especially when it comes to professional and personal growth opportunities.

I hope you enjoy your first year at Wellesley and take advantage of the many opportunities available to you! ❤️ Feel free to reach out to me .

Ready to unlock the magic of Wellesley?
✨ I'm Evangeline W’27 (she/her), a rising sophomore and one of your many wonderful IOMs on this exciting journey! I intend to double-major in Psychology and Computer Science. This year, I'm honored to serve as the Slater Vice President supporting our amazing Slater President Marce 🐀. I will also be serving as co-director for the upcoming Wellesley Hackathon/WHACK , along with the lovely Anna Z’24 and Caitlin-Rose I’24.

🌊 Home for me transcends place. Guangzhou, China; Charlottesville, VA; and Troy, NY, all hold a special place in my heart, but ultimately, it's the people who create that sense of belonging. [Sending a warm hello to my incredible friends and family around the world!]

♥️ Beyond academics at Wellesley! You might see me having breakfast with the incredible team in Lulu [they're the best!], pushing boundaries literally with , or exploring the world of finance with . [Seriously these clubs are amazing!] Last but definitely not least, calling all tech and non-tech enthusiasts alike! is around the corner! If you're passionate about coding, design, or innovation, join us for an unforgettable weekend (Nov 8-10) of creativity and collaboration!

🌊 Wellesley's unparalleled resources! Last semester, I took Intro to Machine Learning at MIT. Looking ahead, I will be participating in GEL (Gordon-MIT Engineering Leadership) and machine learning research here at Wellesley with Professor Tjaden. These opportunities are just the tip of the iceberg of the incredible support available to students.

♥️ Your first year at Wellesley will be a journey of discovery. Embrace the challenges, explore your passions, and remember, there's a network of support always ready to guide you. Don't forget, balance is key! Please please please don't overcommit yourselves—there's time to explore everything Wellesley has to offer and that’s the biggest lesson I’ve learned so far. College is as much about having fun as it is to learning in the classrooms.

I'm so excited to meet you all at !

Hi Class of 2028!

I’m Ana (she/her), a rising sophomore majoring in Psychology on the premed track. I come from the Philippines 🇵🇭 and studied at the International School Manila.

At Wellesley, I’m involved in the Chamber Music Society (playing cello), the Psychology Club, and Hear Your Song. These clubs reflect my passions for music, psychology, and premed volunteering.

This summer, I’ve been working in a Cancer Biology lab at the Koch Institute at MIT through the UROP program. Fun fact: as a Wellesley student, you can cross-register and do research at MIT labs eager for undergrads like us!

Wellesley has been a fantastic place to learn and grow. Over the past year, I’ve had amazing professors and memorable adventures exploring the campus and Boston with friends.

Check out my photo at my favorite brunch spot, Café Sauvage, conveniently near the Wellesley Marlborough bus stop!

Rimaykullayki!☀ I feel so happy to meet you, Class of 2028 ❤️
My name is Bela, I am a rising junior from Peru 🇵🇪 and today I will share a little bit of my summer adventures with you.
Here are some facts about me:
- I am a Media and Arts Science major 👩🏽‍💻, and I am still deciding if I want to do Latin American Studies or an Education minor.
- I am a researcher, I have been doing UROP at MIT since my first year and now I am doing summer research at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea (thanks to the support of a program!)
- On campus you can find me, singing with 🌈 and sharing about the Latinx experience at Circulo de Mujeres, a female empowerment program of Acorns 🦋 (lead by .latinx.advisor )
- I am proud to always share about my Quechua culture and indigenous language through storytelling and community building. Just like I enjoy talking, I love to learn about other cultures, languages, and traditions. I am a friend open to listening to your story! 🫂 💗

Hi everyone 🫶🏼 My name is Marce (She/Her). I’m a rising senior majoring in Chemistry and I’m also one of your International Orientation Mentors. Currently I’m working at MIT and living around the Cambridge area, which is definitely a change from living at Wellesley every year. Home for me is Perú, a place I never get tired of talking about 🇵🇪 I also enjoy cooking a lot of Peruvian food to people so if you want to try some let me know! I’m going to be the Slater President for this academic year and I also work at Slater Center since my first year 🌎 I’m really excited to meet y’all and welcome you to this amazing Slater family. An advice that I could give to any first year is to try new things. Try talking to new people, try learning a new language, try eating new food, try doing that thing that you always wanted to but were too scare to do. It’s amazing how much you get to discover by just trying. If you want to reach out to me just dm me at Lots of Slater Love 💙

hey guys! I’m Julie He (she/her) and I’ll be starting off the student leader’s insta takeovers as one of your international orientation mentors. I’m a rising sophomore interested in psychology and economics. I’m Canadian 🇨🇦, lived in China for a short while and went to school near Boston MA.

I’m currently doing psychology research at Wellesey on Asian American families so I’ll be in Bos this summer. Otherwise I’m hanging with friends or roaming around boston for good food and shopping :) Some of my fav restaurants are in Chinatown which is great for when I’m missing food from home.

At Wellesley, I’ve been able to find a great community through CSA (Chinese Students Association) that connects me to my culture as well as other students. I’m on the E-Board for CSA and my one of my favorite event is the cultural show (pictured in slide 5)

I’ll be doing a day in the life+AMA so feel free to ask me about anything (life as an int student at wellesley, research on campus, student orgs, classes etc.) Can’t wait to meet you all in the fall

The Slater Center invites you to take The 14 Days Of Immigration Challenge. The challenge is inspired by Oprah and Deepak Chopra’s 21-Day Meditation Experience; they follow the idea that if you do something for 21 days, you will create a habit. We built this program to provide you with the tools to learn and engage about immigration in your various spheres of influence.

You will receive daily emails with a variety of print and online resources about the topic for the day. These resources will take no more than 15 minutes. The Challenge will take place over a 14-week period. It will begin on Wednesday, November 1st, and end on Friday, November 13, 2023.

This Challenge is targeted to those interested in immigration and global mobility who are at the beginner and intermediate levels of such work, anybody who is interested and committed is welcome to participate. Sign up by 10/29!
