SCC Baseball players earned ICCAC All-Region Honors on the season.

Players named to the first team are, Isaac Flamino, pitcher, Kyler Kaczmarski, pitcher, Kam Francois, infield and James Nydegger, outfield. The second team selections are, Keaton Fenn, pitcher, Chris Iannuzzi, pitcher, Grant Mather, pitcher, Efrain Osorio, infield, and Gavin Awbrey, infield. On the honorable mention team are, Danny Rollins, catcher, Sean Sanderson, pitcher, Jackson Petsche, outfield, and Jake Miller, utility.

Congratulations on a fantastic season and Region 11 Runners Up finish.

SCC Blackhawk Softball players earned ICCAC All-Region Honors on the season.

Logan Kelley was named the ICCAC Division I Softball Defensive Player of the Year.

Kelley was an elite defensive anchor all season. She finished the year with 147 putouts and 38 assists in 207 total chances and caught one runner stealing. She also helped turn five double plays.

She is the second straight Blackhawk to win the award and third overall in program history.

Players named to the first team are, Araceli Rivas, pitcher, Logan Kelley, infield, Lydia Zaruba, outfield, Anna Woods, utility. The second team selections are, Tatum Goerdt, pitcher, MaKenzie Sweeney, infield and Kiera Klum, infield.

Congratulations on the honors and a tremendous season as Region 11 Runners Up finish.

SCC Iowa XC & TF concluded the season May 14-17 at the NJCAA Outdoor National Championships in Hobbs, New Mexico.

Six athletes flew down to the tournament and had a great experience.

“We were at a new place and discovered different things,” said Nick Powell.

The members that competed were Peyton Stowers, Peyton Lambert, Carter Easton and Nick Powell in the Men’s 4x800 Meter Relay. Powell, Stowers and Lambert also competed in the Men’s 800 Meters. On the final day Paetyn Wiegand and Parker Quinlan each ran in their 5K races.

“For the first time on the guys side we have had people qualify individually in a couple of differen events which was a big accomplishment,” said Quinlan.

“I was excited to experience the atmosphere of such a competitive meet and have the chance to race against a strong field,” said Wiegand.

“As a whole, the season has been one of the most successful seasons (for SCC), and it was exciting to see where the program will end up in a couple years,” added Quinlan.

Many runners also claimed Region 11 All-Region honors on the season.

On the Men’s team during the indoor season honors went to: 5K HM Parker Quinlan,
4x800 Relay HM - Peyton Stowers, Carter Easton, Petyon Lambert, Nick Powell. Distance Medley Relay HM - Jackson Shacklett, Grant Rogers, Easton, Quinlan.

On the Women’s team during the indoor season honors went to: 3K HM Paetyn Wiegand. 4x400 Relay HM - Ja'Niya Crawford, Khalia Joseph, Bella Tibbits, Isabel Stout. Distance Medley Relay HM - Rylee Olsen, Stout, Aubrey K***z, Chole Ferneau.

On the Women’s team during the outdoor season honors went to: 3,000 Meter Steeplechase - Kennedy Ritter. 4x800 Relay - Wiegand, Stout, Olsen, K***z. 4x400 Relay - Tibbits, Stout, K***z, Claire Anderson.

There were also numerous school records set during the indoor and outdoor track season.

Congrats to John McVey on being named SCC’s next Athletic Director!
A familiar face around Blackhawk athletics for more than a decade, John will officially step into the role June 1 as Joe O’Brien prepares for retirement later this summer. We’re excited for what’s ahead for SCC athletics.

Sophie Malott is down to the final golf tournament of her career. The Southeastern Community College sophomore will play her final competitive tournament this week when she competes in the NJCAA Division II Women’s National Golf Championship and Ol’ Colony Golf Course in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The four-day event starts Tuesday and concludes Friday. Good Luck!
