On behalf of the SVG,

On September 11th, 2001, our nation was attacked by a foreign state. This was one of the darkest days in history our country has faced. We immediately plunged into two decades worth of conflict where American citizens risked their lives in foreign lands every day. As members of the Student Veterans’ Group, we are proud of those in our ranks that answered our nation’s call. This tragedy has shaped our country and the citizens of America in ways that still affect many to this day. As we recall what happened on this sad day, we remember the lives lost and those who were devastated by the destruction created 19 years ago.

Due to the current circumstances, we were not able to be in person for our remembrance this year. Moving forward we hope to be together for the 20th anniversary and able to remember this tragic day in person in 2021.

Please feel free to share any recollections or memories of this terrible day in the comments below

I know this is a hard time and West Chester University is helping out by offering additional emergency financial assistance for students for spring 2020: !!!!!!!!!Please read below!!!!!!!!!

WCU is pleased to announce that emergency assistance grants are now available through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act). CARES Act grants are to be used to provide emergency assistance to WCU students enrolled in the Spring 2020 semester with financial need stemming from COVID-19-related disruption of campus operations, including cost of attendance expenses such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and childcare.

The students must be eligible for Title IV aid to qualify for the CARES Act grants. A student is not eligible if they were enrolled in programs that were exclusively online even before COVID-19 closures or withdrew from the University prior to Friday, March 13.

Students who meet the eligibility requirements may be awarded emergency financial assistance cash grants of up to $750 to assist with need due to COVID-19’s disruption to campus.

The University has made the decision that students who are eligible for the Pell Grant may receive up to $1,000 in a CARES Act grant.

Please be aware that funding is limited, and requests will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis until WCU’s allocated federal funds have been exhausted. Students may begin to apply for the funding beginning Friday, May 1.

Students may complete the application in Scholarship Manager on West Chester University Scholarship search page https://bit.ly/2XWeers.

If funds remain, emergency financial assistance through the CARES Act for summer and/or fall session will be announced at a later date.
