Political Science at Purdue University was originally part of the Department of History, Government and Philosophy in the School of Science. In 1965, the Department of Government was renamed the Department of Political Science. It is currently within the College of Liberal Arts and is housed on the second floor of Beering Hall of Liberal Arts and Education. The Department currently has 24 faculty

📣 Last Friday, the JMK Lab in Beering Hall welcomed visitors for its Open House, spotlighting student research from Purdue’s Sociology and Political Science Departments. From policy analysis to social justice initiatives, a wide array of projects were on display. Guests explored the creative and analytical work shaping today’s conversations in the social sciences. Congratulations to junior Priya McNamara on presenting her co-authored paper with Professor Eric Waltenburg, “The Experiential Profiles of U.S. Circuit Court Judges,” at the MPSA Conference. The paper examines the similarities and differences in the professional trajectories of circuit court judges prior to their appointments to the federal bench.

Beyond her work on this project, Priya is pursuing a major in Computer Science with minors in Political Science and Arabic Language and Cultures.
