Over the past few days, we've had the opportunity to work alongside leaders from Helena Agri-Enterprises as they joined us for Module 3 of their leadership program. This module centered on how leaders navigate change.

The week was designed to help participants step back from day-to-day decisions and examine how leadership choices shape direction, alignment and performance over time. Capstone presentations closed the module, creating space for reflection on progress and next steps.

We're grateful for the level of engagement and the quality of discussion throughout the week.

Last week, we welcomed Syngenta US back to campus for Module 3 of the Agribusiness Leadership Accelerator. The week focused on connecting external forces to internal decision-making. Participants explored macroeconomic conditions and global dynamics before shifting into finance and marketing sessions designed to strengthen strategic thinking across functions. The module culminated in team simulation work and board-style presentations, giving participants the opportunity to apply insight under real-world leadership constraints.

We appreciate the strong engagement from the Syngenta cohort and the thoughtful discussion throughout the week.

We've been in Tempe, AZ this week for the ARA Management Academy, working alongside ag retail leaders from across the country.

On Tuesday, Joan Brett led participants through a session on organizational leadership. Later that day, Doug Olsen guided the group through service blueprinting, helping participants step into the customer's shoes and visualize how service is delivered across teams, roles and touchpoints.

Yesterday, participants shifted their focus to financial management with Mark Manfredo and future drivers of change with Allan Gray. Today, participants are learning how to connect sales and marketing with Scott Downey and networking with Arizona growers.

The is delivered in collaboration with Agricultural Retailers Association and W. P. Carey School of Business - ASU.

At the Top Farmer Conference today at the Beck Agricultural Center, we had the chance to hear Trey Malone unpack what really means in an environment defined by volatility and uncertainty.

Rather than trying to predict the future, Trey challenged the room to think in terms of options. From price volatility and trade uncertainty to AI adoption and cybersecurity risk, the common thread was clear: uncertainty isn’t new, but how leaders respond to it matters more than ever.

One of the takeaways was his critique of “bad strategy” – plans that rely on buzzwords and broad aspirations instead of confronting a specific problem head-on. Good strategy, he argued, requires focus, premeditation and a willingness to work through hard tradeoffs, not just look good on paper.

A timely reminder for producers and ag leaders navigating tight margins, constant change and increasingly complex decisions: strategy isn’t about certainty – it’s about preparedness.

We just wrapped up Module 2 with the second cohort of Syngenta's Agribusiness Leadership Accelerator at !

Over three days, we covered strategy, finance, marketing, macro trends, leadership and insights from our Large Commercial Producer work. We're grateful for the chance to support the growth and learning of Syngenta US leaders.

Last week at the Agricultural Retailers Association's Conference & Expo, Dr. Scott Downey shared the first public preview of Purdue’s 2025 Large Commercial Producer (LCP) Survey results, including shifts in education levels, analytical vs. intuitive decision-making and what large may be telling us about future consolidation.
