Rest in Peace, K9 Sheik 🐾

The Wheeling Police Department’s K9 Unit is saddened to announce the passing of K9 Sheik. Sheik was struck by a vehicle in the early morning hours on February 10 on River Road. She was taken to a veterinary hospital in Washington, Pennsylvania, where she died of her injuries. The driver of the vehicle was not at fault.

Sheik, a Belgian Malinois, was born on June 4, 2022, and began her service with the Wheeling Police Department in November 2024. She was trained as a dual-purpose K9, specializing in narcotics detection and patrol duties.

Sheik was the youngest and newest member of the department’s K9 Unit. We thank her for her service to our community. May she now rest peacefully.
