In honor of Throwback Thursday we would like to thank online students and faculty for making last month's 1st Spring Intensive special. It was a week full of meaningful opportunities for students to engage with their cohort, participate in enriching activities, and attend a special meet-and-mingle event with students from the main campus. We look forward to seeing online students again in the Spring during their Diagnosis and Treatment class for their second residency! 🎊

Thank you all for attending! We are grateful for another great event, as Dr. Jeremy Bonta, Director of the Counseling program, presented on OCD and Scrupulosity, alongside Charles Haley and Jacob Lowinger, students in the M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. This presentation enabled us to explore the topic from both the clinician's perspective and the human experience. Everyone, to some degree, comes from a faith-based background or knows someone who does, and we've all had intrusive thoughts, yet have been able to move past them. However, for individuals with OCD and Scrupulosity, intrusive thoughts related to religion or morality can cause them to over-identify with these thoughts, which may lead to isolation and compulsive behaviors involving scripture, inhibiting them from having a healthy spiritual practice. As Charles mentioned, our aim is to raise awareness of this OCD subtype to support those who might be struggling with it. As we continue to support this cause, Jacob shared in the presentation that Vero Beach will be hosting an OCD Walk event on Sunday, December 7, at 8 a.m. For more information, feel free to click the link here: https://iocdf.org/event/vero-beach-ocd-walk/ We look forward to seeing you at our next PBA and Tree of Life Network event in 2026. Stay tuned!

As we welcome November and reflect on October, we sincerely thank everyone who attended our PBA and Tree of Life Network event this month, as unity was fostered among the mental health and church communities. A special thanks to Pastor Todd Mullins from Christ Fellowship Church for delivering an inspiring and practical message based on his new book “Don’t Let Doubt Take You Out: Replacing Fear and Doubt with Faith and Truth.” This topic encouraged us to examine areas in our lives where doubts might be holding us back—whether about God, ourselves, or others—and to explore how we can utilize various tools and resources to serve and support those we serve. We are looking forward to another great PBA and Tree of Life event next month!
