Complete your accredited associate degree at MSU in West Plains. Transfer to MSU-Springfield to earn a bachelor's degree, but attend classes on the West Plains campus through Missouri State Outreach. Outreach is housed in Gohn Hall and has 7 state-of-the-art classrooms, offices for faculty and staff, and a computer lab. MSU Outreach began in West Plains in 1998 to provide students with an opportun

ity to earn advanced degrees without travelling to Springfield. The first degree program offered through Outreach was the Bachelor of Science in General Business. In 1999, the College of Education and Outreach developed the Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education to be offered entirely on the West Plains campus and provides the opportunity for local students to become an elementary education teacher. Many area schools rely on this program to fill job vacancies. Other popular degrees in West Plains through Outreach are the Bachelor of Applied Science in General Agriculture, Bachelor of Science in Child & Family Development, and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing. West Plains also has offered many graduate level degrees over the years, including the Master of Science in Educational Administration, Specialist in Educational Administration, Master of Science in Business Administration, Master of Science in Counseling, Master of Social Work, Master of Science in Elementary Education, and Master of Science in Literacy. Some graduate programs are now offered 100% online and are accessible to students locally.

From Hermann, Missouri, to West Plains, Michaela has found a path that blends passion, purpose, and opportunity.

She began her journey at Missouri State University–West Plains in 2024 and is now pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education through Missouri State Outreach.

The Outreach program has allowed her to stay in West Plains while gaining valuable classroom experience and working toward her future.

Michaela shares that the program has been welcoming and supportive, giving her the opportunity to succeed close to home.

She hopes to teach first or third grade and continue making a difference in the lives of young students.
