*Our History*
Founded in 1891 by the Mount Olive Baptist Association as The Baptist Ministerial Instit
ute, but affectionately known as "The Normal School"
From 1891 to 1895 classes were held at Missionary Union Baptist Church of Columbus, MS before moving in 1896 to Mount Hermon Baptist Church in West Point, MS. While still reflecting the original intent of providing theological training for Baptist ministers, on January 27, 1956, the charter of incorporation was amended changing the name to Ministerial Institute & College so that the institution could welcome and serve students of various denominations. Cook, Chairman the Board assumed the presidency until his transition into glory in 2009. In February 2009, the board of trustees elected Rev. Boyd, the senior pastor of Zion Gate Baptist Church of Columbus, MS as president. Under Dr. Boyd's leadership, MIC became an accredited institution of higher education in September 2010 & opened its satellite location in Louisville, MS under the direction of Board Chairman Rev. Dr. Benjamin Pittman. With your continued prayers & financial support, Ministerial Institute & College will soar to higher heights in the Lord Jesus our Christ!
