WHOOOOO was in the Lodge last night? 🦉

About 80 Brothers, family members, and friends gathered at Chandler Lodge No. 227 for our April Stated Meeting and Family Night - and it turned into one of the most memorable evenings we’ve had.

The night started with an incredible meal by The Messy Pig BBQ Catering Company followed by what may have been a record-breaking Stated Meeting (short and efficient - just the way we like it). Afterward we gathered in the social hall for treats, drinks, and a very special presentation.

Lilee from Red Creek Wildlife Center joined us with some amazing animal ambassadors:

Tiberius — Red-Tailed Hawk
Flap Jack — Barn Owl
Zazu — Black Vulture
Dandelion — Eastern Box Turtle

Lilee walked around the room so everyone could see these incredible animals up close while sharing fascinating facts about wildlife rehabilitation and the important role their center plays in caring for injured animals.

At the end of the evening, Chandler Lodge was proud to present
Red Creek Wildlife Center with a $1,000 donation to support their nonprofit work.

That’s what Freemasonry is all about - fellowship, family, education, and supporting the organizations that serve our community.

And judging by the smiles in the room… I think everyone would say the night was a real hoot.

Ever see an owl up close?

Next Tuesday night we’re doing something a little different at Chandler Lodge No. 227 in West Reading and we'd love to invite some friends from the community.

On Tuesday, April 7th at about 7:30 PM, right after a short Lodge meeting, we will be welcoming Red Creek Wildlife Center for their Raptor Program. They’ll be presenting about birds of prey and bringing along some incredible winged guests including an owl and other raptors and friends.

This is a family friendly program and should be a really fun and educational evening for adults and kids alike.

Feel free to bring spouses, kids, grandchildren, neighbors, or friends.

The event will be held at Chandler Lodge in West Reading, right next to Reading Hospital.

Free program
Free parking

If you'd like to come, just send us a message here and we’ll send you the details.

Hope to see some of you there!

We enjoyed a great January Stated Meeting last night with 46 Brothers and visiting guests in attendance, highlighted by an outstanding presentation from our U.S. Marshal guest speaker. Thank you to everyone who came out and made the evening so special.

We were honored to pin 11 current and former First Responders that are Freemasons, recognize and introduce our new line of officers, and celebrate the strength and family feeling of our Lodge. We are fortunate to have dedicated members who continue to step up and serve. It was especially meaningful to realize that more than 20% of those in attendance have served our local communities in this way. That was a moment that truly stood out for me.

Add in a great meal, dessert, plenty of fellowship, and time spent reminiscing together, and it was truly an evening that reminded us what our Lodge is all about: brotherhood, service, and connection.

I hope everyone enjoyed the evening despite the heavy traffic and construction in the area. Let’s hope the work along Route 422 proves worthwhile and helps improve safety near Penn Avenue - while keeping our first responders and road crews safe.

Thank you all for being part of such a memorable evening. Your continued commitment and support are truly appreciated. As I was walking into the West Reading Masonic Center last evening - I couldn't help but take a quick photo of the sky before the brief period of rain came.

Today, a group of us from Chandler Lodge No. 227 traveled to Williamson Lodge No. 307 in Womelsdorf for our very first District Visitation of the year.

It was made even more special as it marked Brother Anthony’s first meeting presiding as Worshipful Master. He did an excellent job leading his Lodge, and it was a pleasure to be there to support him and the Brethren of Williamson Lodge.

One of the things we love most about Freemasonry is our official visitations to other Lodges. Any Master Mason from our Lodge may attend these visitations, and it is strongly encouraged. There is always something to be learned, ideas to be shared, and inspiration to be brought back home.

In fact, next Saturday we will be traveling to Vaux Lodge No. 406 in Shoemakersville for their District Visitation. It will also be the Worshipful Master’s very first meeting presiding in the East.

We would love to have you join us. Please let the WM know if you plan to attend so we can ensure our Lodge is well represented and properly accounted for for the meal beforehand.

Holiday Greetings from Chandler Lodge No. 227

As we enter this special week, we extend our warmest wishes to our families, friends, neighbors, and Brothers across the community.

May the spirit of peace, generosity, and goodwill - the very principles we strive to uphold as Freemasons - shine a little brighter in every home.

This is a time to reflect, to celebrate the bonds that unite us, and to share kindness wherever we can. Whether you are gathering with loved ones, lending a hand to someone in need, or simply taking a quiet moment to appreciate life’s blessings, we hope the season brings you joy and renewed light.

From all of us at Chandler Lodge No. 227, thank you for being part of our extended family.

May the New Year ahead be filled with health, hope, and harmony.

Chandler Lodge No. 227 Supports Sunny Day Camp

Our Masonic Lodge, Chandler Lodge No. 227, was proud once again to sponsor this year’s Sunny Day Camp hosted by the Reading Barracks of the PA State Police

Sunny Day Camp is a special program created to build positive relationships between law enforcement and individuals with special needs. The vision behind the camp is simple but powerful - to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to connect with local police and first responders in a safe, fun, and educational setting.

Each year, participants enjoy interactive demonstrations, hands-on experiences, and meaningful moments that highlight inclusion, understanding, and community partnership.

Chandler Lodge No. 227 is honored to continue supporting programs like Sunny Day Camp that embody the Masonic values of charity, brotherhood, and service to others.
