This on-demand CE webinar explores evidence-based management of traumatic orthopedic injuries and open fractures, including antibiotic prophylaxis, risk stratification, and coordinated surgical care to reduce complications and improve patient outcomes. Participants will gain practical strategies for identifying risk factors, managing open fracture injuries, and integrating surgical and antibiotic approaches in trauma care.

Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences alumna Erica Reed, DPM, a Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Resident at UnityPoint Health, and Kuan Chen, PharmD, an Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Resident at UnityPoint Health, share their expertise.

The session, "From Call to Care: A Case-Based Journey Through the Poison Center Lens," focused on identifying and prioritizing key clinical details in poison cases and using that information to recognize common toxidrome patterns. Ms. Kalin also reviewed how to select appropriate management strategies based on those findings.
