Join us for an unforgettable evening with internationally acclaimed jazz pianist, composer, and arranger Dabin Ryu on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. in Riley Auditorium. This concert is presented in partnership with A Tribe for Jazz.

Originally from Seoul, South Korea, Dabin Ryu has captivated audiences worldwide with her remarkable artistry, innovative compositions, and extraordinary musicianship. A Berklee College of Music graduate and current Associate Professor of Piano at Berklee, Ryu has performed alongside jazz greats including Ralph Peterson, Billy Harper, Jaleel Shaw, and Johnathan Blake at renowned venues such as Smalls Jazz Club and Dizzy's Club in New York City.

Recognized with numerous international honors and celebrated for her acclaimed debut album Wall and recent single Earworm, Ryu is quickly becoming one of the most exciting voices in contemporary jazz.

The Department of Music mourns the passing of alumna and Professor Emerita of Music Amy Doan Chivington ’69 on July 13. Dr. Chivington served as Director of Music Education for 30 years and made lasting contributions to the University and its students. In 1990, she founded and directed Kinderchor, leading the ensemble to performances at Carnegie Hall, for President George H.W. Bush, and during AmeriFlora in 1992. Under her leadership, Kinderchor also performed for two popes, including an appearance at the Vatican. "Dr. C" (as she was affectionately known) inspired countless students, many of whom went on to become music educators and professionals in the music industry. Additional details regarding an obituary and service will be shared when available.

On Saturday we wrapped up the 13th annual Otterbein Summer Music Experience! It was a great week of music-making, where students experienced daily applied lessons, various classes, choir, jazz ensemble, attending a musical, and final performances to showcase their talents. Thanks to the entire team of faculty, staff, and RAs that make it happen! We hope you'll join us again next year for OSME 2027, tentatively June 20-26!
