Otterbein University Department of Equine Science Offering majors in pre-veterinary medicine/pre-graduate, vet tech, and equine business. Riding teams. Otterbein also encourages student research.

We offer a variety of equine science degree programs including Equine Pre-Veterinary Medicine/Pre-Graduate Studies, Equine Business Management, Equine Veterinary Technology, as well as minors in Equine Business Management and Equine-Assisted Activities and Therapies. Not only will you receive an exciting educational experience in the Department of Equine Science at Otterbein, but you'll learn by d

oing. You will trim hooves, make your own horse shoes, give injections, and bandage legs, just to name a few of the skills taught here. You will attend local shows and trade fairs such as the Equine Affaire, veterinary seminars, Quarter Horse Congress, and Rolex.

There are only a few spots left in Vet for a Day event, held Thursday, July 30th at the Ohio State Fair! This event is for high school students exploring careers in veterinary medicine and is hosted by the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association. Registered students will experience fun, hands-on activities with veterinary professionals and learn about education and careers in veterinary medicine. Link in bio.

We offered a new class incorporating veterinary behavior concepts this semester. We received official approval from the Department of Education to begin offering our new Wildlife and Exotic Animal Veterinary Technology major!

Students will complete coursework within the Department of Equine Science and Zoo and Conservation Science program at Otterbein, as well as the AVMA-accredited vet tech program at Columbus State Community College. Grads will be eligible for licensure as Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) after completing their coursework and passing the VTNE exam. Stay tuned for more details about the curriculum!
