Welcome to the Otterbein University Art & Art History Department page. At Otterbein, art and art history students create in a strong liberal arts environment.

Ideas encountered in Integrative Studies (Otterbein's core liberal arts curriculum) and elective courses inform students' studio and art history experiences. Critical thinking and clear communication are emphasized in the creative process. The Department of Art & Art History also emphasizes professional development. In addition to trips to large regional art museums, students regularly explore art

opportunities in Columbus through frequent visits to museums, galleries, and artists' studios as a part of classes. From the freshman year onward, visiting art professionals provide students with opportunities to learn about art careers. An annual juried student art exhibition is open to all art students. Art major seminars provide three semesters of professional preparation including a senior year exhibition. These classes assist students in career development processes such as résumé writing, portfolio preparation, interviewing, graduate school research, and exhibition planning.
