Congratulations to the McDaniel College Class of 2026!
McDaniel awarded 388 bachelor’s degrees during today’s 156th Undergraduate Commencement ceremony. The graduates ranged in age from 20 to 44 and were from 18 states, plus Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico, and nine countries. 🎉🎓
Robert Pick '92, P'25, McDaniel College trustee and business leader, served as the Commencement speaker.
Josephine M. Otremba, who graduated magna cm laude with departmental honors in History and as a College Scholar, was surprised with The Edith Farr Ridington Writing Award and four students earned The Argonaut Award for the highest cumulative grade point average: Ethan H. Brown, Sociology major; Liam F. Estell, Computer Science and Policial Science major; Marina Jean Ferriola, Psychology major; and Sarah Grace Kreh, Sociology major. The 2026 Ira G. Zepp Distinguished Teaching Award was presented to Chemistry Professor Dana Ferraris.

Cheers to our newest graduates! 🎉
During this morning's Graduate Commencement, 332 master’s degrees were awarded. The recipients hailed from 25 states, plus Washington, D.C., and 26 countries.
Commencement speaker for the Graduate ceremony was Ochieng’ K’Olewe, the L. Stanley Bowlsbey Endowed Chair at McDaniel. Peter “Trey” Balding III, who earned a master’s degree in Education of the Deaf, was the recipient of the B. Jill Brooks Hodge Professional Development Award and Jodi Popielaski received the Joan Develin Coley Award for Excellence in Education. The Shelton Adjunct Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence was presented to Franklin Eastham M.S. ’94, senior graduate adjunct lecturer in the Educational Leadership program.

During this evening's Senior Investiture and Honors Convocation, members of the Class of 2026 were honored with academic, activity, and leadership awards, including Sarah Grace Kreh, who received The Mary Ward Lewis Prize, and Sylvan Sialis Eichenlaub, who was awarded The Bates Prize! Additionally, Assistant Dean of Education Tracey Lucas was the surprise faculty speaker and Lecturer in Biology Caitlin Pozmanter ’12 was awarded The Ira G. Zepp Teaching Enhancement Grant.
