The Merchant of Venice
Thursday, February 20th, 9:30-12:30

The Merchant of Venice is classified as a comedy because nobody dies. But it is hardly a frothy laugh fest. Shakespeare’s characters wrestle with anti-Semitism, as well as with what is owed in friendships and in father-daughter relationships. But above all, the play makes us reflect on the use and misuse of language in the pursuit of justice. Leader: Ann Berman is a retired special education teacher who recently earned a Masters in Shakespeare Studies. She has been involved in the LLARC program since 2012.

Cost: $20
