Students will combine skills in visual storytelling and social media with time-honored capacities for gathering information, crafting clear prose, reporting, writing, and editing. We feature coursework and professional networking that builds foundational skills and provides advanced experiential opportunities and global internships. ntly employed at media organizations including the Chicago Tribune, The Hollywood Reporter, TIME Magazine, Religion News Service, The New York Times, Burlington Free Press, Clear Channel Communications, The Washington Examiner, Rochester Women’s Magazine, Freie Universitat Berlin, TeachBeyond, Christianity Today, Today’s Christian Woman, Leadership Journal, and more. Open to students from all majors, the certificate hosts a variety of events each semester, and requires enrollment in the following courses, an internship at a media organization, and co-curricular involvement:

-4 hrs: Journalism, Comm 215 (advanced students may substitute with Comm 415, Special Topics in Journalism)
