Challenger Learning Center, Wheeling, WV Empowering students and educators through immersive, standards-based space simulations that inspire curiosity and strengthen STEM skills.

What started out as a tragedy on the morning of January 28, 1986 has turned into a monumental, educational triumph. The Challenger Center for Space Science Education, serves as a living legacy to help students build the skills most needed for the 21st century, including decision making, teamwork, problem-solving and communication. The Challenger Learning Center Network has grown to comprise 48 loc

ations across the United States and other nations serving more than four million students to date. Our center is located on the campus of Wheeling Jesuit University. Our doors opened in 1994 and currently offer programs for students in grades kindergarten though high school. We also have a distance learning program called "e-Missions" that connects our center to schools across the country as well as all over the world via video conferencing equipment and the internet.

What a fantastic mission today with the West Liberty Lions Club Homeschool Group! 🚀

Our crew worked together, solved challenges, and demonstrated outstanding teamwork throughout their mission. We loved seeing their curiosity, problem-solving skills, and enthusiasm as they took on the role of space explorers.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this exciting adventure, and a special thanks to the West Liberty Lions Club Homeschool Group for spending the day with us. We hope to see you back in Mission Control again soon!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the program such a success. We loved sharing with you all about how dinosaurs became extinct and exploring the fascinating science behind it in a fun, engaging way.

What an incredible week at our Space Camp! 🚀🌟

Our young astronauts stayed busy with hands-on STEM activities from start to finish. They created astronaut helmets, used 3D pens to bring their ideas to life, practiced teamwork and dexterity with grabber challenges, and discovered the difference between science and "magic" through exciting experiments.

Campers explored the phases of the Moon with a fun Play-Doh activity, designed their own unique mission patches, and even went to work aboard the International Space Station! To top it all off, they engineered and launched their very own rockets into the sky. 🚀

We had so much fun learning, creating, exploring, and working together. Thank you to all of our amazing campers for making this week such a success. We can't wait to see you on your next mission!

What a fantastic way to launch Summer Reading! 🦖

We had an amazing time joining the kickoff celebration and bringing some hands-on STEM fun to curious young learners. From creating impact craters to exploring chemical reactions and discovering the science behind asteroids, these future scientists jumped right into the action!

A huge thank you to everyone who participated and made the event such a success. We love partnering with local libraries to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning all summer long.
