The OPSA (Orthotic Prosthetic Student Association) student organization hosted a barbecue for the Orthotics and Prosthetics students. After the barbecue we had a blueberry pie eating contest in which 2nd year O and P student, Jacob Davis won. Announced at the event were the winners of the Golden Hammer award. To receive the Golden Hammer award, fellow O and P students and faculty anonymously vote on their favorite Orthtotic and Prosthetic device that O and P students fabricate in lab. It is a fun event that students work hard during the year to submit their best entry. The winner of the Golden Hammer award in Orthotics was Dana Hammer. The winner of the Prosthetics Golden Hammer was Emily Brandt. Congratulations to everyone who participated in this great event!

Thoughts Like These by Mary Bergs Artist Talk: Wednesday, 5/1/24 12:00 PM -1:00 PM “Thoughts Like These” is an exploration of the relationships between made and found materials. The work in this exhibition represents a process-based approach to making, emphasizing the activity of making rather than a specific endpoint. This acknowledgment is a recognition that the creation of work is not a static act but rather an ongoing process that explores ideas about the relationship between line, form, composition, and function. The situations created in the gallery are one of many possible configurations of these materials and objects. The work evolves from a practice of noticing and responding to found forms. Thoughts Like These invites the viewer to consider the relationship between objects, abstractions, and forms encountered in everyday experience.
