What happens when we revisit Shakespeare’s stories — and ask whose voices matter, who holds power, and what else might be possible?

In ENGL 2035: Shakespeare, we'll explore Shakespeare alongside contemporary playwrights, encounter sonnets and Elizabethan history, and connect the questions in these works to the world we live in today.

Special partnership with the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis! The course includes four theater visits featuring sessions led by Guthrie actor-educators and a matinee performance.

Guthrie dates: March 17, March 24, March 31, and April 7, 2027.

Students can take HUM 1040: Culture and Civilization of Chinese Speaking Peoples with Yan Wang in May and June 2027, including two weeks in China.

No Mandarin experience is required, and grant and scholarship opportunities are available to help make the experience more affordable.
