Sage is putting Geoscience on the map—literally!

Working with mentors Kashif Mahmud and Jonathan Price, Sage is creating a georeferenced digital map of the 400-acre Camp Perkins. By documenting natural features and historical landmarks, this project provides a vital tool for the Boy Scouts of America to improve land management and community engagement.

Ricardo and Shishir are pushing the limits of Computer Science! Working with mentor Eduardo Colmenares, they are exploring how GPU-accelerated deep learning can make image classification, such as distinguishing between cats and dogs, faster and more efficient. Using high-performance systems like TACC Lonestar, they’re showing just how much heavy-duty computation is required for a computer to "understand" even a single image.

Melody is bridging the gap between history and language! Working with mentor Jackson Pearson, her research analyzes Spanish and Spanish-American perspectives on the early United States. By looking at the era from the War for Independence to the Louisiana Purchase, Melody explores how these global powers viewed the "fragility" of the young American experiment.

A huge thank you to all our student researchers for sharing their incredible work, and to everyone who stopped by the Clark Student Center to support them. You’ve put in the work all semester, now let’s finish strong!
