This fall, our Sports Medicine staff had the opportunity to attend a "Meet and Treat" gathering with our partner Restore Hyper Wellness Wichita East. New staff learned about the many services that they provide for our student-athletes and the returning staff had to opportunity to expand their knowledge, as well as experience new modalities.

Wichita State University Athletics and Ascension Via Christi are seeking a qualified applicant for the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer to serve in the Wichita State University Athletic Department. Responsibilities include providing injury prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation for student-athletes, male and female. Primary sport responsibility will be with Men's and Women's Cross Country/Track & Field. This is a new position to that works alongside an additional full time athletic trainer and graduate assistant athletic trainer. Additional responsibilities include supervision of athletic training students, graduate assistant athletic trainers/interns, maintenance of injury, treatment, and rehabilitation records for student-athletes, team travel with assigned teams and other duties as assigned by Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer. This position is for an immediate hire and will remain open until filled.

Wichita State University is seeking qualified applicants for a Graduate Assistant Athletic Training position working with Baseball. Responsibilities include providing injury prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation for student-athletes. Additional responsibilities include supervision of athletic training students, maintenance of injury, treatment, and rehabilitation records for student-athletes, team travel with assigned teams, assist with instruction of athletic training classes, and other duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine. This is a two-year position that includes a competitive stipend, in and out-of-state tuition waiver, books, NATA dues, state licensure fees, cell phone stipend, continuing education assistance, health insurance, and fees for 9 graduate credit hours per semester. Additional income may be available through outside events and sports camps. Anticipated start date is July 24, 2023.

Requirements

BOC required by start date. Collegiate athletic training experience at Division I level is preferred, but not required. Prior collegiate experience with baseball is preferred, but not required. Applicant must meet admission requirements for graduate school in desired degree program. Exercise Science and Sports Management programs require 3.0 GPA for last 60 hours of college credit.

Please give a warm welcome to Andrea Roth and Lexie Mikesell, the newest editions to our Sports Medicine staff. Andrea will be working with our Women's Basketball and Men's Golf programs. Lexie will be working with our Men's and Women's Cross Country and Men's and Women's Track and Field programs. Both of these two women will be joining us for an official start date in mid-January.
