The Wichita State University Police Department is a commissioned law enforcement agency and the fourth largest in Sedgwick County. The department is divided into three divisions; Operations, Support, and Parking Services. The Operations Division is made up of the Patrol Section

which consists of three shifts, each made up of six officers and a supervisor. The division reports to the Operations Captain. The Support Division is made up of Communications, Records, Investigations, and Administrative Sections. The Communications Section is made up of two Emergency Communications Specialists (dispatchers) on each shift and a Supervisor, who also handles our records management. The Investigations Section consists of two detectives. The Administrative Section consists of an Administrative Sergeant and an Administrative Specialist. The division reports to the Support Captain. Parking Services is made up of a Manager, Parking Supervisor, and ADA Coordinator, Administrative Specialist and two Parking Services Officers on each of the First and Second shifts.

This is a little bit late, but officers from WSUPD helped give out treats for the Child Wichita State University Child Development Center's Halloween parade at the RSC last week. We had a wonderful time seeing all of their costumes and smiling faces. Go little Shocks!

Trooper Kristy Ely has been highlighted again by the Kansas Highway Patrol! It's bittersweet when our personnel move on to other agencies to advance their own careers, but it is also very humbling that agencies also recruit from us. That tells us we're hiring the right people. Trooper Ely was not the first to leave our agency for KHP. We'll see if we can find some content about Trooper Akeila Wilson to share soon!

Congratulations to Officers Abbey Coppola and Aaron Rutherford on graduating from KLETC yesterday! They’ll start FTO training off with rifle and less-lethal shotgun training next week then begin rotations on each shift. We’re so excited to have them begining their careers serving WSU. Go Shocks!
