WSU SMGT Alumni Spotlight: Aliyah Funschelle 🎙️

Before women’s sports became one of the fastest-growing stories in media, Aliyah Funschelle, a proud Wichita State Sport Management alumna, saw the opportunity and believed in the power of storytelling.

As featured on Gist, Aliyah recognized that fans wanted more, including the stories, personalities, culture, and community surrounding the game. That vision led to the creation of Sports with Aliyah, a platform that has grown to more than 200,000 followers, secured major brand partnerships, and launched her own iHeart Women’s Sports podcast, The Match-Up with Aliyah.

Aliyah has been immersed in sports media since she was just 14 years old. Through consistency, passion, and a commitment to elevating women’s sports, she has built a thriving brand and become a respected voice in the industry. Today, she continues to break barriers and inspire the next generation of sports professionals and content creators.

We can't wait to see what's next for Aliyah!

This year-long, full-time program is designed for recent bachelor's and master's degree graduates from NCAA member institutions. It features opportunities across 12 departments, including Championships, Communications, Governance, Research, Leadership Development, Legal Affairs, and more.
