Introducing 2022 Latino Leadership member, Jocelyn Cardona! Jocelyn is a senior here at Friends University majoring in Health Science with a minor in Chemistry and Spanish. Jocelyn is from Wichita, Kansas and graduated from Wichita South High School. Apart from being in Latino Leadership, Jocelyn is also on the powerlifting team and a member of Sigma Delta Pi. A highlight this year for jocelyn has been going to the powerlifting collegiate nationals in New Orleans and getting to cheer on her teammates. When she graduates she plans on pursuing a career in physical therapy or speech pathology. In her free time, Jocelyn likes to record and edit vlogs. She has done this since she was about 8 years old. Jocelyn is a fun spirit and dedicated individual. We are lucky to have her in our familia! 🦅

Introducing 2023 Latino Leadership member, Gustavo Renteria! Gustavo, is a senior here at Friends University majoring in history education. Gustavo is from El Paso, Texas, and graduated from Pebble Hills High School. Apart from being in Latino Leadership, Gustavo is also involved in Wrestling, Sigma Delta Pi, and HALO. His favorite college memory so far has been student teaching and getting to know all the students. When he graduates he will be working as a teacher at St Joseph’s Catholic School. He will also be furthering his Education by getting a Masters in Special Education. One fun fact about Gustavo is that he was an extra in a movie.
Gustavo is a very peaceful individual and we are excited for his journey as a teacher. So lucky to have him in our familia! 🦅

Introducing 2022 Latino Leadership member, Alexandra Vick! Alexandra is a senior here at Friends University majoring in Biology. Alexandra is from San Antonio, Texas, attended Bowie High school and graduated from Cornerstone Christian School. Apart from being in Latino Leadership, Alexandra is a student athletic trainer assistant for the football team. Her favorite college memory so far has been sitting around the bonfire until 2:00 am with all of her friends, where the night was filled with nothing but laughter and great company. When she graduates, Alexandra aspires to be a veterinarian or a full-time minister! One fun fact about Alexandra is that she can tie a shoe in 1 second! Alexandra is a serene and thoughtful individual. We are lucky to have her in our familia!

Introducing 2025 Latino Leadership member, Magnolia Tavizon! Magnolia is a freshman here at Friends University majoring in Health & Human Performance. Magnolia was born in Ceres, California and graduated from Central Valley High School. Apart from being in Latino Leadership, Magnolia plays on the women’s soccer team and will serve as an RA next semester. Her favorite memory from this year has been making a huge candy salad with the soccer team (which she had the honor of bringing back to her dorm). Magnolia hopes to pursue a career in coaching soccer at the collegiate level or higher. A fun fact about Magnolia is that she likes to watch all kinds of movies and shows for fun so she can review them on Letterboxd! Magnolia is a charming young woman who you can depend on. We are lucky to have her in our familia ❤️🖤🦅

Introducing 2022 Latino Leadership member, Sebastian Castillo! Sebastian is a senior here at Friends University majoring in mechanical engineering. Sebastian was born in Miami, FL, but grew up in Wichita, KS and graduated from Maize High School. Apart from being in Latino Leadership, Sebastian has served as the vice president of SAE and Spanish club. His favorite memory from this year has been designing and building a working fan for Machine Design. He hopes to own a business someday to give back to his community and family. Some of Sebastian’s fun facts include flying in an experimental jet, pulling a full art Umbreon Ex, and having Dtmf by Bad Bunny as his favorite song right now. Sebastian is a dedicated young man, who also brings the fun into a room. You can count on him to get your team to the top and put a smile on your face. We are lucky to have him in our familia!

Introducing 2022 Latino Leadership member, Elizabeth Vizcarra Bedoy! Elizabeth, lovingly known as Ellie, is a senior here at Friends University, double majoring in Social Studies Education and History & Politics with a concentration in Law and Policy. As a local, Ellie graduated from Wichita South High School. A few highlights of her year have been visiting Mexico with her fiancé and Bad Bunny’s halftime performance. Ellie has been involved in Latino Leadership, Fine Arts, Cheer, and most recently worked as a Student Ambassador for the Friends’ Admissions Office. For fun, Ellie enjoys watching many movies and reading a variety of genres. After graduation, Ellie hopes to teach locally at the middle or high school level, teaching social studies. Ellie is an energetic individual who is passionate about her field of study. She has a huge heart, and we are lucky to have her in our familia!
