We saw a growing demand for skilled welders, and we took action.

Penn College Workforce Development is launching Essential Welding Skills, a short-term, hands-on training program designed to quickly prepare adults for in-demand careers and help close a critical workforce gap.

We had the pleasure of celebrating some outstanding members of our Penn College Workforce Development team at our all-college meeting.

Congratulations to Missy Fullmer on receiving the Distinguished Staff Award for Excellence in Service, this recognition is so well deserved, and we are incredibly proud to have her on our team!

We also extend our congratulations to Ross Berger and Kathy Wentzler on their retirement. Their dedication, professionalism, and kindness have made a lasting impact. They will be missed.

Please join us in celebrating Missy, Ross, and Kathy, and in thanking them for the meaningful contributions they’ve made to Workforce Development and Penn College.

We were proud to host the 2026 Advanced Manufacturing Pre-Apprenticeship Industry Day at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Regional employers and partners joined us to connect directly with regional pre-apprenticeship participants, share what careers in manufacturing really look like, and open doors to meaningful pathways in this growing field.

From the shop floor to the career ladder, participants heard firsthand from the people building Central Pennsylvania's manufacturing workforce, and got a clearer picture of where their training can take them.

Thank you to our industry partners, employers, and the Innovative Manufacturers Center for investing your time and expertise in the next generation of skilled workers. The future of manufacturing is being built right here!

We’re proud to celebrate 17 students who have completed our 16-week Penn College Workforce Development EMT program!

These individuals have put in the time, effort, and hands-on training needed to prepare for a career in emergency services. Next up: the PA state psychomotor exam and NREMT written certification.

Flight Chops creator Steve Thorne recently spent a week at Pennsylvania College of Technology attending the Lycoming Engines Service School.

While in Williamsport, he brought his Van's RV‑14 to campus, went hands‑on with engine training, toured the Lycoming Engines factory, and connected with aviation students. A great example of lifelong learning and strong industry‑education partnerships in action.

Celebrating the future of manufacturing in the Lehigh Valley—especially as we close out National Apprenticeship Week!

We were proud to host the 2026 Advanced Manufacturing Pre-Apprenticeship Industry Day at the Workforce Board Lehigh Valley and PA CareerLink® Lehigh Valley. Students were recognized for their hard work and new skills, with graduates marking a major milestone on their path to rewarding careers.

Participants also connected with local manufacturers, building relationships and exploring next steps in this in-demand field.
