As we approach finals week- a reminder about Protocall, CAPS’ after hours phone line service. From 4:30PM-8:30am M-F, and 24 hours on the weekend, students can call 860-465-0181. Students can either leave a voicemail, or choose to be connected to an on-call counselor through Protocall.

This service can be used for any mental health support, whether that be a panic attack, coping with stress, grief processing, or thoughts of self-harm (always call 911 first in case of true safety emergency). Protocall staff can either keep your information anonymous or share your concerns with CAPS full time staff if you’d like a follow up.

Be sure to program our number into your phone today!

On April 24th, 2024 Denim Day is observed during Sexual Assault Awareness Month to honor and support victims and survivors of sexual violence.

The campaign was originally triggered after a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court, where a r**e conviction was overturned due to the belief that since the victim was wearing tight jeans, she must have helped her attacker remove them … thereby implying consent. The following day, the women of the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans, in solidarity with the victim. Today, wearing jeans on Denim Day has become a worldwide symbol against the misconceptions about sexual violence.

Join CAPS Staff on Wednesday 4/24 in showing your support for survivors by wearing your favorite denim!

This January marked the 20th National Stalking Awareness Month. While stalking can look different for all victims, stalking is defined as a pattern of behavior directed at a specific person that would cause a reasonable person to fear for their safety or the safety of others; or suffer substantial emotional distress.

If you, or someone you know, is impacted by sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking or any form of interpersonal violence, Eastern’s SAIV-RT (Sexual Assault & Interpersonal Violence Response Team) can assist in providing a private, safe, a supportive space to talk, an opportunity to understand options for on-campus and off-campus reporting procedures, and assist in addressing other campus concerns.
