Today, we honor strength, resilience, and survivorship.

National Cancer Survivors Day recognizes the millions of individuals living with and beyond cancer, and the women who often face unique challenges during and after treatment.

1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and many continue to navigate recovery while caring for others.

OWAA supports access to healthcare, workplace protections, and resources that ensure women not only survive, BUT THRIVE.

National Higher Education Day was founded to encourage students to pursue college and advanced education opportunities while promoting accessibility and affordability.

Education changes lives, and women are leading the way.

Today, our office recognizes the power of higher education in creating opportunities, advancing equity, and strengthening communities.

Women now earn most college degrees in the United States:
▪️ 57% of bachelor’s degrees
▪️ 60% of master’s degrees
▪️ 52% of doctoral degrees

Yet many women continue to face barriers including student debt, wage inequities, and underrepresentation in leadership roles.

Women also carry nearly 2/3 of the nation’s student loan debt, showing that while access to education has expanded, financial equity still matters.

Higher education is more than a degree. It is economic mobility, confidence, leadership, and empowerment.

Many women begin experiencing symptoms of perimenopause in their late 30s or 40s—and often don't realize what's happening.

Understanding the signs can help women advocate for themselves, seek appropriate care, and feel less alone during this transition.

The more we talk about perimenopause, the more prepared women can be.

💬 Had you heard of perimenopause before today? Tell us "Yes" or "No" in the comments.

"Everyone deserves the opportunity to live, work, and thrive as their authentic self."

Pride Month recognizes the contributions, resilience, and diversity of LGBTQ+ individuals and communities.

It is also a time to reflect on the importance of inclusion, dignity, respect, and equal opportunity for all.

Strong communities are built when everyone feels seen, valued, and supported.

💬 What does inclusion mean to you?

Congratulations to the Delaware Human Resources - OWAA intern Jadyn Gross, on completing her Master of Public Administration through the University of Delaware’s 4+1 program!

OWAA is incredibly proud of Jadyn and all she has accomplished throughout her academic journey. From studying abroad in Rome and London as a University of Delaware World Scholar to her work focused on public service, equity, nonprofit management, and policy research, Jadyn has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to improving communities and advocating for others.

During her time with us, Jadyn contributed meaningful policy research aimed at improving outcomes for women and girls in Delaware, and she also completed a thoughtful capstone project examining prevention resources and support systems for girls across the state. Jadyn’s passion, talent, and dedication have already made an impact, and we know she will go on to do amazing things. Congratulations, Jadyn! We can’t wait to see what’s next for you!
