Elon Alumni in Wilmington

Thank you all so much for coming out and enjoying the start of summer at Hi-Wire Brewing. I was able to move the reservation from the table next to the speaker for Karaoke, and closer to the ping pong tournament which was much more enjoyable.

Our group spanned an almost 50 year range of Elon graduates. It was relaxed. We found so much in common with each other. That’s what this is all about. 💪🏼🤟🏼

It was absolutely flattering to have such a great turnout. We will do this again in late summer / early fall. If you have any suggestions, send them to me.

We had a great time this evening being entertained by the staff at Carolina Ale House and cheering on Elon basketball at UNCW. Spoke to 8 alumni in and around Trask Coliseum.

Local fans were very hospitable and it was almost flattering when several struck up conversations with us as guests. Standing room only crowd.

At halftime we were entertained by the world famous Red Panda. Forgive me for the grainy video. It was the best a new iPhone 17 could do….🤷🏻‍♂️

Elon was not strong enough to overcome a 9 point halftime deficit.

This was an easy event to attend and we will likely make it a standing event each spring. There should be some communication in the next few days about an Elon Maroon and Gold event in Wilmington this month.

For anyone interested in attending the Elon @ UNCW men’s basketball game on Thursday Feb 12 at 7pm, there are a few tickets available for us in a section together.

When you call the ticket office, ask for Section 216 Row A. I have tickets 1-3. There will be up to 4 more for us on the same row for a few days before they are released due to demand closer to the actual game. A full house is expected. (910) 962-3233 Call soon to get a ticket.

Consider joining me for dinner before at the Carolina Ale House around 5pm. Message me once you purchase your ticket and we will coordinate plans.

A few updates and events to consider attending in the upcoming months…..

Thursday March 6th is Elon Day. The Wilmington alumni chapter will not be holding an event that specific day.

Look for details shortly about a Maroon and Gold event being held in Wilmington in late March. We will use this event as our local kickoff for 2026. Another social event will be held later on in the year in Wilmington.

Homecoming is October 9th and 10th. The typical Saturday night concert has been moved in recent years to the Friday night Rock The Block event. Last year’s concert was the Plain White Tees and it was free to attend on a closed to traffic Haggard Ave. I attended and it was impressive.

Elon athletics has a few appearances in Wilmington this month. Consider attending and cheer on the Phoenix.

Thursday Feb 12 Elon Men’s Basketball vs UNCW 7pm.

Triple header in Men’s baseball at UNCW, March 13-15 (Fri, Sat, Sun)

If there is interest in Men’s basketball, please contact me via Messenger and i will coordinate getting tickets together for us. Dinner before hand is also an option.
