We’re Excited About The Future Of Nursing

At Shenandoah, our role is to help you prepare for success in this challenging and satisfying health profession. As a student here, you will have opportunities to share and learn from your fellow students, faculty and practicing nurses, from within the classroom to a range of clinical environments including hospitals, medical practices and pharmacies. Our

programs are challenging, but the rewards of completing your degree and entering this critical profession are many. We are committed to providing an outstanding education to nurses at all levels -- from people entering the profession with a Bachelor's degree in nursing, to advanced practice nurses seeking doctoral-level training. Our programs are dynamic and responsive to the needs of our students and the health care industry. Shenandoah Nursing offers classes in Winchester at the Health and Life Sciences Building, and in Ashburn at the Shenandoah Northern Virginia campus, conveniently located on Route 7 just east of Leesburg.

Celebrating Our Faith Community Nursing Graduates!

Pictured with Ebony Henley, MHA, BSN, RN-BC, NBC-HWC, Shenandoah University’s Faith Community Nursing Coordinator, are three of our Faith Community Nursing graduates who attended the Pinning Celebration in August! 🎓🩺

We are proud to recognize these nurses and their commitment to caring for the body, mind, and spirit of those they serve.

✨ What is a Faith Community Nurse?

A Faith Community Nurse is a registered nurse (RN) who has received specialized educational preparation in holistic ministry and provides health promotion services within a faith community.

Working alongside pastors, lay ministers, and other members of the pastoral team, Faith Community Nurses help individuals work toward optimal physical, mental, and spiritual health. Their work centers on the intentional care of the spirit while helping members of their communities maintain or regain wholeness in body, mind, and spirit.

Faith Community Nurses may serve in paid or volunteer roles across a variety of religious faiths, cultures, and communities. The services they provide are shaped by the unique needs of the congregation and may include health education, advocacy, support, referrals, and promoting overall wellness.

The Shenandoah University School of Nursing is excited to welcome Jacquelyn Alvarado, DNP, MHA, BSN, FACNM, CHSE to our faculty! 💙❤️

Dr. Alvarado will be joining our Nurse-Midwifery program, bringing an incredible wealth of knowledge, experience, and passion for maternal healthcare and nursing education. 🩺🤰

A nationally recognized speaker, author, educator, and advocate, Dr. Alvarado is passionate about developing sustainable solutions that strengthen healthcare systems and expand access to high-quality maternal care. Her work centers on empowering women, supporting families, and preparing future healthcare leaders to create meaningful change in the communities they serve.
