The Financial Aid Office wants to remind you that there is financial assistance available to help pay your bill owed to the University.
- Have you filed the FAFSA at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa? FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This form is free to complete. Many students will qualify for Federal Direct Student Loans and possibly other types of aid. Check out the eligibility requirements at this link. If you haven't filed, you'll need our school code 001425
- Have you looked into private scholarships https://www.easternct.edu/financial-aid/documents/external-scholarship-resources.pdf? Private scholarships are free to apply for and are a great way to help pay your bill and reduce the amount you borrow. We encourage all of our students to create an account with FastWeb. It's a scholarship search engine. You can get to their site from this link.
- University Payment Plan allows you to spread the cost of your bill over the length of the term making monthly payments. There is an enrollment fee but $0 interest. This is not a loan. You can find details about it here https://www.easternct.edu/fiscal-affairs/bursar/the-eastern-payment-plan.html
- Parent PLUS is a loan for dependent students and is in the parent's name. Parents can apply at https://studentaid.gov/app/launchPLUS.action?plusType=gradPlus. Students must complete the FAFSA before the parent can apply.
- Grad PLUS is a loan for graduate students. Grad students can apply https://studentaid.gov/app/launchPLUS.action?plusType=gradPlus. Students must complete the FAFSA before applying.
- Private education loans are another option. You can view our historical list at https://www.elmselect.com. This is not a listing of every private lender, but it is a good place to start. When selecting a private education loan lender, look at their repayment terms, interest rates, fees, etc. and select the one that best meets your family's financial situation. Due to favorable repayment terms and rates, we highly recommend students borrow your Federal Direct Student Loan first if you are eligible.
