One of the Celebrate CE 2024 speakers is Krista Butts, representing the SRJC Public Safety Training Center programs. Born and raised in Sonoma County, Krista Butts grew up in the Russian River area, where she still resides with her husband, Galen, and their four children, two dogs, three cats, and eight quails. She is an avid reader, a proud Lord of the Rings nerd, and a caffeine enthusiast. Krista is a professional expert at the SRJC Public Safety Training Center and, as she puts it, "a senior forever student who loves being on campus and helping whenever she can."
She continued her education at the SRJC due to its accessibility, affordability, and versatile class programming, which helped her career advance within her current agency.
Krista has achieved certifications as an Emergency Care for First Responders, Emergency Medical Technician, and Public Safety Dispatcher from SRJC. Prior to this, she served for ten years as a 911 Fire and Medical Dispatcher at REDCOM, Sonoma County's Fire and EMS communications center. Following her return to school to obtain further certifications in EMR and EMT, Krista joined the Santa Rosa Fire Department's Prevention Bureau as a Community Outreach Specialist and EMT.
