A new mural at Elm Crossing is bringing color, history, and inspiration to downtown Wingate. 🎨🐾

Created through a partnership between Wingate University, the Town of Wingate, and True Homes, the mural celebrates academic achievement, the town's railroad heritage, and the journey students take from learning to graduation. 🛤

Designed by Charlotte artist Hilary Siber Edwards, the artwork features symbols of knowledge, discovery, and success, creating a meaningful welcome for the graduate students who call Elm Crossing home.

Alumni Profile | Crystal Gatling ’18 🎓

After earning her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, Crystal recently graduated with honors from the University of North Texas Health Science Center with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. She has also accepted a position as a Sports Resident in Virginia Beach, where she will continue her training with a focus on treating youth and adolescent athletes. 🏋️‍♀️

Crystal credits her decision to attend Wingate to the supportive community, dedicated faculty, and opportunities that helped prepare her for success beyond graduation.

Flashback Friday! ❄

On January 24, 2000, Wingate University was hit with a snowstorm that left campus covered in 6 inches of snow! 🌨

And just like today’s Bulldogs, students wasted no time heading outside to enjoy the snow, make memories with friends, and take in the winter fun across campus. 💙

Today, we’re taking it back to 1986 at Wingate University!

That year marked an exciting period of growth and change for the University. Wingate introduced English, Psychology, and Sociology as new majors for students to pursue. It was also the first year Wingate offered a Master’s Program in Education, a milestone that helped elevate the University’s academic excellence to a new level.

Wingate has launched a new Psychology/Clinical Mental Health Counseling Advantage pathway, giving qualified psychology majors guaranteed entry into the University's Clinical Mental Health Counseling master's program.

This innovative pathway helps students plan for their future careers earlier while creating a seamless transition from undergraduate to graduate studies.

Alumni Spotlight | Jody Burleyson ’90 🚓

Please join us in congratulating Jody Burleyson on being elected sheriff of Rowan County, North Carolina. 🎉

Before his election, Jody served as director of public safety for Rowan County Schools following a distinguished career of more than 25 years in law enforcement. His dedication to serving and protecting his community continues to make a meaningful impact across Rowan County.

We are proud to celebrate Jody’s accomplishment and the leadership he demonstrates through his commitment to public service. 💙
