As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close and summer begins, we want to remind our students to take time to rest, recharge, and care for themselves.

Pharmacy school requires so much dedication, and it’s important to recognize the value of taking care of your mental health along the way. Whether this summer brings APPEs, internships, work, rotations, or well-deserved downtime, we hope you make space for balance, support, and moments that bring you joy.

Thank you to our students for your resilience, compassion, and hard work throughout this year. Wishing everyone a safe, healthy, and restorative summer break!

Today we’re highlighting another one of our graduates, Lisa Cale! Congratulations, Lisa! 🎉

Lisa is from Taylorsville, NC and plans to pursue a career in retail pharmacy. She says patient interaction is what drives her passion for pharmacy. Lisa chose WUSOP because it was the closest pharmacy school to home despite the two-hour commute, but she quickly realized WUSOP was exactly where she was meant to be. We’re so proud of you, Lisa!

Here is her advice to future pharmacists:

“You will not survive on your own. Pharmacy school will bring you to your knees more times than you can count. Find your inner circle and hold on for dear life! Look for people that make you laugh when you want to cry, people that give you a million reasons to keep going when you just want to give up, and most of all, people that push you to be a better person than you were yesterday. These people will be your lifeline through pharmacy school! I would be lost without mine!!!”

From the time I stepped onto Wingate’s campus, I immediately knew it was where I belonged. Being born and raised in a small town made me appreciate Wingate University’s family-feel community, and I felt right at home. When pursuing my pharmacy education, I wanted to continue feeling supported and welcomed. WUSOP brought me in with open arms and has supported me every step of the way as I worked toward my dream of becoming a pharmacist!

We’re proud to celebrate the Class of 2027’s Pinning Ceremony, a milestone that marks the transition from the classroom to clinical practice. Our P3 students have officially completed their didactic journey and are preparing to begin their APPE rotations—one step closer to becoming pharmacists.

“The Pinning Ceremony celebrates a major milestone for the third-year professional students of Wingate University School of Pharmacy. It marks the completion of their didactic coursework and the transition into their experiential learning year. The pin displays the Wingate name, their year of graduation, and the mortar and pestle, a traditional symbol of pharmacy practice. The student is pinned by a faculty member, symbolizing their transition from learning in the classroom to learning in the pharmacy practice setting.”

We are so proud of the hard work, resilience, and dedication shown by this class. The future of pharmacy is bright! Congratulations to the Class of 2027, and best of luck on your APPEs!
