Why were 's monuments created? Who sponsored the construction of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County's memorial landscape, and what were these monuments intended to say? Dive into the Murfreesboro Monuments Project, an interactive digital map created by MTSU History graduate students in collaboration with MTSU Digital History and Graphic Design, to find primary sources, stories, and tours that answer those questions: https://murfreesboro-monuments.mtsu.edu/.

What are some sites or stories (with or without monuments) that you would like to see added? Comment below with your ideas!

The Murfreesboro Monuments Project can also be explored at the Heritage Center, open Monday-Friday from 10-3 pm.
