To celebrate National Friendship month, we are going to dedicate our each week to highlight a friendship💚 This week we will hear a letter senior beks!! wrote for her best friend Marleigh Stannard ✨

“Dear Marleigh,

It’s pretty rare to meet your person freshman year, but somehow I was lucky enough to meet mine on move-in day (shoutout Carolinekhalaf). We spent basically every second together that year, got lucky enough to do KD together, and somehow turned scheduling every meal together into a tradition.

You are one of the very few people I can sit in a room with for hours and do absolutely nothing with, and somehow never get bored. You’ve made me a better person just by being in my life, and I hope you know how much your friendship has meant to me over the years.

I truly didn’t know how I was going to spend a moment without you when you went to Australia and I stayed at Wake, but you never once made me feel far away. We talked every single day, and even with everything you had going on, you always made me feel important and reminded me that distance could never change us.

I would be lucky to be even a sliver of the person you are. Everyone deserves to have a Marleigh in their life and I’m so thankful freshman-year me found you. I wouldn’t want to do college, or life, without you. Here’s to all the meals, all the memories, and a lifetime of having you by my side.

“Also got another submission for why kd weds I want to share along w the others in this gc: Coming into school my freshman year, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to rush or if sorority life was right for me. After meeting a few girls in KD, I decided to give it a shot and will forever be grateful that I did. When I walked into KD each round, I immediately felt welcomed and at ease, like I could finally take a deep breath and be my true self. Since then, KD has helped me come out of my shell and grow into the confident person I am today. The women that I have met through this organization are some of the strongest, smartest, and most genuine souls on this campus and I am so grateful to be surrounded by people that make me want to be the best version of myself everyday. From finding the most incredible, selfless roommate in Maddie , late night chats with jenna rose , singing with Zoe Kane , Sof, and Lucy Thompson, to going on ice cream runs with my big Lizzie🎀🫧, I have made sisters and memories that will last a lifetime. I truly would not have made it through college without all these wonderful people, and I hope incoming freshman going through recruitment decide to choose a place that feels like home!”

“Wake was a challenging adjustment at first. The heavy course load, a new campus, and the struggle to find your people were all difficult but joining KD and meeting Siena made me realize that Wake was actually the place for me. Siena and I met by chance on a scavenger hunt during Big-Little week. What I didn’t know then was that she would become my confidant, my ride or die, my best friend. From that day on, we became inseparable. Whether it was nights out, combined lin dins, or cramming for finals week, Siena and I were always in it together. She is someone I truly admire, the person I turn to when I’ve had a rough day, and also the first person I want to tell my good news to. She is smart, kind, hilarious, and genuine. My life would be dull without her.
KD allowed me to find people like Siena that were meant to be in my life, and for that I am truly grateful. I cannot wait to be back on campus with her and see what this year has in store for us! 💚”

“Adélaïde is the kind of friend I’ve been missing in my life for a long time. We met randomly about a month into my time in KD, and after that I don’t think we spent a single day apart from each other. I believe we were truly meant to find each other because before we had ever met, our parents crossed paths at orientation, and my mom encouraged me to reach out to her, knowing we would get along. Months later, I joined KD and met her, unaware she was the one my mom had told me about. At the end of the year we took our parents to dinner where they realized they had met before. The universe knew I needed a best friend and sent me the perfect one. Adélaïde is one of the most genuine, loyal people I know and is someone who I can always count on to be there for me. She has brought so much laughter and joy into my life. I cannot imagine college without her. I’m so so lucky and grateful that KD brought me my other half and I can’t wait for all the new memories we will experience together!💚🍀 “

“Kappa Delta truly is the epitome of sisterhood. I’ve made countless memories with these girls, and I truly wouldn’t trade it for the world. From late-night froyo runs to random, unspeakable side quests, these girls are always there for you, no matter what the plan entails. They are the sweetest, most caring girls ever, and I can almost guarantee that no matter who you are or what you enjoy doing, there will always be a sister right there beside you. I have loved meeting every single one of my sisters, especially my amazing lineage. I love you girls!! 💚”
