Gilman & Gilman-McCain Application are Now Open!

Thinking about in-person or virtual study abroad? Receive up to $5,000 (or up to $8,000 if you’re studying a Critical Need Language) to go abroad on an in-person or virtual program as a college student if you’re a U.S. citizen and Federal Pell Grant recipient!

The Gilman-McCain Scholarship application is also open! Receive $5,000 (or up to $8,000 if you’re studying a Critical Need Language) if you're a child dependent of active duty military member and receive any type of Title IV Federal Financial Aid to go abroad on an in-person or virtual program.

Deadlines & Timeline

The October 2021 Deadline application for the Gilman and Gilman-McCain Scholarships is now open for applicants whose in-person programs start between December 1, 2021, to October 31, 2022.

The Gilman Program will continue accepting applicants who plan to participate in virtual programs or internships through Summer 2022.

Please be aware that the application deadline is in Pacific Time and take into consideration any time difference as students prepare to submit their applications.

This cycle may encompass programs during the following terms:

Spring 2022
Summer 2022
Fall 2022
Academic Year 2022-2021

If an applicant was not selected or declined an award during a previous application cycle, they may reapply as long as they continue to meet the eligibility requirements and their program falls within the start dates.

Applicants who were previously awarded a Gilman Scholarship but had to decline due to COVID-19 challenges may reapply for the October 2021 Deadline application. They will be given special priority consideration in the selection process.
