Today we remember Dr. Steve Phalen, who recently passed away in May. Beginning in 1971, he served as Professor of English at until 2007 and adjunct professor for a few years after his retirement. His book, "Song of Wekiva: Florida’s Wild River and its Democratic Vista," has been downloaded over 17,000 times since its publication in 2011. 1918, The Sandspur announced that the Class of '18 "was the largest number of candidates that has ever assembled to receive the Blue and Gold insignia of Rollins alumni" a few days prior. That record-breaking number over a century ago was eight!
