After all the editing and setting up, the students will learn the basics of mixing in the digital environment, current styles and techniques and how specific plug-ins work. Additional skills will be the to identify musical elements and nuances, manage milestones and roadblocks, balance levels and frequencies and how to create depth in a mix. While learning about proper monitoring techniques and setting up their studio rooms, the students will learn about listening in multiple environments, and what proper listening levels are. The final steps will be to explore the functions and learn basic setups of gain structure, distortion and harmonics, equalization, dynamic and time Based processing, panning and finally, dealing with phase issues. Applying all these techniques, the students will mix a session, pre-master the final mix and submit the required stems and mixes to a client.
