PCC Music Department

PCC Music Department The PCC Music program offers a wide range of opportunities for students and the community. AFA in Music Degree; dedicated faculty; Variety of Ensembles.

Welcome to the PCC Music Department! The Music Program at Pitt Community College offers musical opportunities to every student attending Pitt Community College and for those interested in the community. For those students interested in majoring in music, PCC offers an AFA in Music Degree. Most Music Majors are interested in transferring to a four-year institution in pursuit of a Bachelor Degree in

Music, which we have created pathways to several 4 year institutions. These include East Carolina University, UNC Charlotte, UNC Wilmington, NC Central, University of Mount Olive and several other schools. The goal is to have a Comprehensive Articulation Agreement with all schools offering a four-year degree in music in the University of North Carolina System with all Community Colleges offering an AFA in Music. The AFA Music Committee is hopeful that we will have an agreement in place by 2018-19 school year. There are many opportunities for non-music majors to participate in music at Pitt Community College. All students at PCC are encouraged to participate in one of our Music Ensembles which actively perform on campus and in the community. Several music courses come under the UGETC (Universal General Education Transfer Component Course) agreement with the University of North Carolina System. Music UGETC Courses
Music Appreciation 32 sections in Spring 2018

It is so difficult to find opportunities to make music during this Pandemic, but we had a couple of opportunities in October. On Oct. 24th, the PCC Symphony Orchestra was given permission to gather together behind the Charles Russell Building to rehearse and videotape a concert. This was a very special event. The PCCSO had not rehearsed or performed together in almost 8 months, but this one event gave us optimism about making music during this pandemic. I hope you will enjoy this video recorded and produced by PCC's own Ken Peel.

There's music once again (at least temporarily) in 201. Vincent is playing on our newest addition to the PCC Music Department. This Baldwin Acrosonic Upright was donated by Ms. Anne Suggs. I can't wait until we have students back on campus to take full advantage of this wonderful gift. Thank you Anne Suggs!
