🎭✨SPECIAL HOMECOMING PERFORMANCE of Tuck Everlasting: Friday, Sept. 11, at 7:30 p.m.
Presented by: Shreds & Patches Theater Project

What would you do if you had all eternity? Trapped by the rules imposed by her straitlaced family, ten-year-old Winnie Foster yearns for a life of adventure beyond her white picket fence, but not until she becomes unexpectedly entwined with the Tuck Family does she get more than she could have imagined. When Winnie learns of the magic behind the Tuck’s unending youth, she must fight to protect their secret from those who would do anything for a chance at eternal life. As her adventure unfolds, Winnie faces an extraordinary choice: drink the immortal water and join the Tuck's in an everlasting adventure—or live on in a natural way, living a life full of the ordinary beauty of growth and change.

The Shreds and Patches Theater Project will perform Tuck Everlasting on Friday, Sept. 11, at 7:30 p.m. the Gilliam Center for the Arts Black Box Theatre on campus. The performances are free and open to all. Based on best-selling children’s classic by Natalie Babbitt, Tuck Everlasting was adapted for the stage by Mark Frattaroli.

The Shreds and Patches Theater Project is a partnership between the Pro-Art Association and The University of Virginia’s College at Wise. The Project pairs theater professionals with college student-apprenticeships to create accessible, live theater performances to tour regional school districts in Central Appalachia. The Project is dedicated to rediscovering the promise of live theater to undo expectation, arouse festivity and sew community through playful imagining and meaningful reflection.

These performances are made possible in part by the National Endowment for the Arts, The University of Virginia’s College at Wise’s Grand Challenges Pilot Grants Program, the Lee County Community Foundation, and the Towns of Pennington Gap, St. Paul, and Haysi.

This production features several talented UVA Wise students and alumni.🌟

A great Cavs and Community event this evening in downtown Wise, part of UVA Wise Welcome Week! Thanks to our Foundation for supporting coupons for our students to use at the fantastic food trucks. The Advancement Officers loved visiting with the students and community members. We appreciate the Town of Wise and the Pro Art Association for hosting this event!

Thursday evening, Aug. 20th, rain or shine the Advancement team will be out at the Big Glades downtown handing out food truck vouchers to UVA Wise students for some delicious food as they enjoy the concerts, hosted by the Town of Wise!

🎶Make sure to come out to Big Glades this THURSDAY, Aug, 20th for some AMAZING tunes and AWESOME food trucks (5pm - 9pm)!!🎶 This is a FREE community event and ALL ARE WELCOME!! 💯🙌✨

Thanks to the Richard and Leslie Gilliam Foundation for establishing the Dana G. Kilgore Professorship in Accounting, and congratulations to alumna Ning Zhou for being named to this new role!

Thanks to the generosity of Richard B. Gilliam Sr. and the Richard and Leslie Gilliam Foundation, UVA Wise is strengthening its investment in faculty excellence while celebrating the achievements of its educators.

The College has established the Dana G. Kilgore Endowed Professorship in Accounting and named alumna and faculty member Ning Zhou as its inaugural holder. UVA Wise is also recognizing four faculty members whose promotions reflect their continued excellence in teaching, research and scholarship.

Congratulations to Ning Zhou, Teresa L. Brown, Troy E. Makal, Ricky D. Mullins and Cody T. Sanders on these well-deserved achievements!
