Thousands of students. Countless paths. And they still met. ❤️

WPI students, Coulter Ralston '21 and Amanda Lowther '21 met during their sophomore year and built a relationship that continued long after graduation.

Wanting to honor the place where their story began, Coulter purchased a commemorative brick on campus. He then incorporated the brick into a surprise proposal, creating a meaningful connection between their past at WPI and their future together.

We're thrilled to share that Amanda said yes. 💍

Congratulations to the happy couple, and thank you for letting WPI be part of such a special moment in your journey.

It's go time! Yesterday afternoon following Convocation, a special, student-only event, the Class of 2026 crossed Earle Bridge.

Graduate Commencement takes place Thursday, and Undergraduate Commencement is Friday.

A pioneering WPI faculty member, Helen Vassallo MBA '82 was also a clinical biologist, mother to 10 children, two-time author, American Businesswoman of the Year, helicopter pilot, patent holder, and recipient of the Key to the City of Worcester.

"My mom blazed many trails in her lifetime but never sought the limelight. Instead, her focus was always attuned to service,” said Steve Vassallo '93 of his mother.

It is in this spirit of generosity, impact, and service that Steve and his wife Trae established the Dr. Helen G. Vassallo Distinguished Presidential Professorship. It's a meaningful way to honor Helen's life and career—and to cement her legacy.

Why does Janelle Drake '11 volunteer with WPI?

"By staying active with WPI, I can give back to the place that helped to shape my experience and worldviews for four years. It's a way of paying it forward for the next generation of students," she says. "I give my time back to the university to help continue our strong tradition of community."

Join Janelle and dozens of other seasoned and aspiring volunteers for Honoring Our Helping Herd on April 29 on campus.
