Tau Kappa Epsilon - Worcester Polytechnic Institute

Tau Kappa Epsilon - Worcester Polytechnic Institute Defenders of Love, Charity and Esteem All TKE brothers strive to exemplify the fraternity's cardinal principles of love, charity and esteem in our daily lives.

Founded on January 10, 1899 by five men at the Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois, Tau Kappa Epsilon is the largest international fraternity in the world, with over 250,000 men initiated at over 300 chapters in the United States and Canada. TKE's Zeta Mu chapter, founded in 1959 at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, maintains a particularly high standard of excellence. In addition

to numerous other national awards, we have received the Top TKE award as one of the best chapters in the world for seven years in a row. Tau Kappa Epsilon's remarkably strong brotherhood is built on a diverse group of men, considered not for wealth, rank, or honor; but for personal worth and character. The brothers at Tau Kappa Epsilon's Zeta Mu chapter strive to excel in leadership, scholarship, athletics and services to our community. These men of sterling character carry on to become leaders in their business and community.

Our first TKE of the week this year is Evan Demas, a junior Computer Science major from Portola Valley, California. Evan spent this past summer interning at Slack, but during the school year you can always find him around the house. As a former Risk Manager and our permanent guest, he’s made himself at home. If he’s not coding, he’s probably playing basketball, hiking, skiing around Lake Tahoe, or traveling somewhere new. After coming back from his IQP in Japan, Evan fell in love with the culture and the people, and hasn’t stopped talking about it since. We missed you, Demas!

For the last week of the term, our TKE of the Week is Luke Sperling! Luke is a junior architectural engineer from Pocono Pines, PA who is incredibly active not only in TKE, but outside of TKE as well. He is both a member of WPI’s swim team, and the newly elected president of IFC! In his free time, he enjoys sailing and building his fanbase. No stranger to responsibility, Luke is always pushing each and every brother to their fullest potential. We’re proud to be able to call Luke a brother!

This week’s TKE of the Week is Gavin McCullough, a senior Civil Engineering major from Colorado Springs, CO. As a TKE brother, Gavin knows how to make his mark. He’s done 3 separate paintings around the house! He also likes to make his mark by eating every last morsel of food in our walk in. Outside of TKE, Gavin is a captain of the swim team, and enjoys construction. Maybe one day he can build a washer and dryer for the other swimmers, so they can use their own! Either way, we appreciate your dedication Gavin, and we’re proud to call you a brother!

This week’s TKE of the week is Connor Sagan, a junior in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Sagan has had a blast at TKE serving as a pr chair, an interim historian, and house manager. Some of his hobbies include being nonchalant, going to sleep early, and playing clash of clans. We don’t know what’s more impressive: his 4.0 GPA or top 100 COC. He gets a little crazy on weekends, but luckily his bigs Murphy and Mantoni keep him in line. It’s Sagan time!

This weeks TKE of the week is none other than Santiago Ortega-Pizaña. Santi is a sophomore chemical engineering major from Saltillo, Mexico. Within TKE he has served as our assistant rush chair and is also our starting striker for our intramural soccer team. He had a hat trick in our last game! Outside of TKE, Santi has served as a Community Advisor, a tour guide on campus, a member of SHPE and a Summer Transition Assistant. Even with all those responsibilities though, he’s never too busy for TKE. Santi always brings the energy around the house and we love to call him a brother.

This week’s TKE of the week is Michael Collins. Michael is an ECE major and business minor from Norton, MA. We commonly refer to him as Unc because, believe it or not, this kid rushed as a junior. Still, Michael wasted no time getting involved in the house and has proudly served as TKE’s lawn chair. He is in charge of mowing the grass (we have turf) and feeding the local wildlife. In his free time, he loves to ski, ride motorcycles and tutor his younger brother Stephen Collins. We love having Micheal as a brother!

Recently, our brothers had the amazing opportunity to attend the Morin Province Forum, a TKE leadership conference. We also had the honor of accepting our Top TKE award, a celebration of our chapter’s hard work and excellence. We continue to rank among the top TKE chapters across the nation, pushing ourselves and each other to uphold the values of our fraternity: love, charity, and esteem.

This week’s TKE of the Week is Jonah Ricciardi, a senior biochem major from Freetown, MA. Jonah is our fraternity’s head rush chair, which means he’s in charge of organizing and running all of our rush events, as well as giving all our food away. But don’t let that fool you. In his free time, Jonah enjoys abstract expressionism painting, honing his harp-playing abilities, and working at his local animal shelter. He also likes soccer. We’re proud to call Jonah our brother!
