"Food insecurity is an issue that impacts many college students. While public universities are required to provide support to students struggling to get a meal, private universities like Clark University are not. Over the past year, one of the project teams within Clark Sustainability Action (CSA) has been working to understand what resources are available for food-insecure students within the Clark community, if they are sufficient resources, and the story of food insecurity at Clark’s campus. This article aims to inform and give an overview of some of the closest food pantries to Clark as well as raise awareness about food insecurity on campus."

What is CSA?

As you may know, Clark Sustainability Collaborative (CSA) and Environmental Action Council were merged to create us—Clark Sustainability Action! Together, as one united environmental club, I believe that we can have a large impact on sustainability at Clark.

We meet every Sunday at 4pm!

In order to educate others we must first educate ourselves. In October 14th’s issue of Clark’s student newspaper The Scarlet, Gari De Ramos writes this incredibly articulate and enlightening article from which all of us would benefit in reading. In the article, De Ramos discusses the lack of racial diversity in Clark’s climate action, the reasons why, and how each of us can work towards a more educated and collaborative Clark. As halloween swiftly approaches, here are some ways to stay sustainable!
1. THRIFT — Cheap synthetic Halloween costumes are often worn once and thrown out, which are then sent directly to landfills. For a better alternative, consider buying second-hand clothing to create a costume from thrift stores or getting creative with the clothes and accessories you already own!
2. DIY — Use sustainably sourced and easily recyclable materials. For example, use paper or cardboard for props, rather than plastics that cannot be recycled!
3. FACE PAINT — Instead of buying a mask, try using face paint (or any sort of makeup). There are a variety of organic face paints available.
