This May, York College of Pennsylvania students traveled through Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, and France as part of Dr. John Weaver's NATO Contemporary Security Issues course, visiting NATO headquarters, military command centers, and the European Parliament along the way.

Even more impressive? These students contributed chapters to a peer-reviewed book expected to be published this November. As Dr. Weaver put it, "Students can say, 'I'm published in a peer-reviewed publication.' No other undergraduate college in the world is doing this to the level that we are."

What does it look like when nursing education meets community need?

It looks like senior nursing students Kayla Dolison and Pearo Wulff-Nortey guiding new parents through swaddling techniques and explaining the connection between caregiver frustration and infant safety outcomes.

It looks like Morgan Obiezue spending an afternoon helping women understand the earliest signs of pregnancy and why first-trimester care is so critical.

"By bringing maternal and infant healthcare resources directly into our neighborhoods, we can help break down barriers to access," said Jessica Zartman, Director of the Urban Collaborative at York College's Center for Community Engagement.

York College of Pennsylvania has officially launched its Lifelong Learning Initiative (LLI), and the response has been nothing short of incredible!

Nearly 500 people turned out for the inaugural event at the West Campus Community Center, and the excitement in the room was undeniable. With 468 paid members and already 1,071 registrations for summer courses, it's clear that the York community is hungry for more learning opportunities, no matter their age.

Dr. Jen Geubtner-May, Director of the LLI program, captured the spirit of the initiative well: "It's the perfect way to stay active and meet great people. Plus, there are plenty of ways to get involved as a volunteer, to give back and stay involved in the community we're building together at YCP."
